Ladies Day Out - March 16, 2010

Yesterday was Ladies Day Out. There were 5 of us this time. Linda, from upstate New York; Nan, from Pennsylvania; Sue, park hostess and originally from Iowa; Sharon and I. We went to Boerne, Luckenbach and Fredericksburg.

We drove the scenic route to Boerne. Yesterday morning it was raining and there were several accidents on I-10 in SA. So we took the loop around. It didn't rain on us while driving nor while we were out and about. Looked menacing a couple of times but no rain - saw the sun peak through once or twice, too.

First stop: Boerne (pronounced burn-ee)
We found this cute little nature store that had chairs, benches outside and a lot of bird houses, feeders and books inside. They even had a finch feeder for $100. It stayed in the store.

We went to a kitchen store and various other boutique and antique stores. The stores have such fun names. Like:



We had lunch at the Boerne Grill. We were going to go to the bakery for lunch but the line and wait was too long. A very nice gentleman took our picture.


A little more shopping then off to Luckenbach. I couldn't believe it. I was very glad I went but it was totally different than what I expected. Here's a few pictures to show you what I mean.




The post office/souvenir store/bar was kind of unique.


Now, we're off to Fredericksburg. We didn't have much time to shop. The stores closed between 5 and 5:30. We were buying fudge at 4:20. We did manage to browse through a few though.



On the way home we stopped at Mimi's in SA for dinner. And, that's where it happened. We arrived about 7:00 pm. Came out after 8:00 pm and found the truck passenger window broke. The truck was Sue's not ours. The shattered glass was everywhere. Sue and Nan went back into Mimi's to report. We were trying to check to see what was taken. All of our packages were there except one. Sharon found the cutest little tool bag complete with tools (things like hammer, screwdriver, measuring tape, etc.). They took that and her Nikon camera. Everything else was left untouched including my camera. Sharon had been sitting in the front passenger seat. The security guard was called. He did a very nice job of cleaning out the glass - we took the truck back to a shop. He tried taping plastic on the window. We stopped at Target and got some tape and a cardboard box.

Not a nice way to end the day or start to Sharon's birthday but overall everything can be replaced. On the bright side, we still had the fudge. :)
