Or NOT! Packers start playing in a few minutes. Anyone want to take a bet about how quiet it will be here for the next few hours. lol I asked her if she wanted to read this and she said no. So anything goes, right?
We tried a different dish yesterday morning. It was an omelet in a bag. Not too many came in for breakfast. Guess just plain scared. By the way, it was excellent. It's basically omelet ingredients in a ziploc quart bag that you drop into boiling water for 10 - 15 minutes or until done. I couldn't believe how big and fluffy they were. We put basic ingredients in the bag - eggs and either sausage/ham/bacon and cheese. We had diced tomatoes and mushrooms as well as sauteed peppers and onions to go on top. Made a couple of coffee cakes too. A lot of people missed out on a great breakfast. Forgot to take the camera so no picture but the people who came were very amazed at how good they looked.
The cleaning lady fell and has a contusion. Can't work for a week or two according to the doctor. They asked us if we would help out 3 days for 4 hours a day. With pay, of course. Agreed to help while she's out but only for a week or two. Don't think I can take much more than that.
Mornings have been cold but when the sun comes out warms up very nicely. Feels a little chilly if it stays cloudy. We now get together 3 days a week to play games.
Nothing much happening since Wednesday except staying out of trouble of course. Hope everyone is having a safe and warm weekend.

Ladies Luncheon 1-17-11
Yesterday, four of us went out to lunch. Left here at 11:30 and got back around 5:00 pm. We ate lunch at Mi Tierra and of course had to do some shopping at Market Square. A couple of pictures from lunch:

Some pictures of Yoli, Sue and Sharon at lunch

We were definitely full so no dessert. Decided to walk around the market square for a couple of hours and to "walk" off lunch. Then we would be ready for dessert. Yep. Great idea. The weather was beautiful. Calm winds and around 74 degrees. The sun was shining brightly, too. A few pictures strolling around.

While waiting on the girls to get done looking around, took a couple of pictures of the restaurant across the way and a couple of Mariachi singers serenading.

And, yes, we did stop back in the restaurant for dessert. They still had some of the decorations up from the holidays.

Another drizzly afternoon
Haven't seen the sun since Tuesday. Been rainy/drizzly/foggy for most of the week. Had to get out the sweat pants and sweatshirts this week. Hopefully this next week will be better. I can say that I got a couple of books read. Played a few games at Creekside. Watched a couple of movies. Went shopping last Monday and had a potluck on Wednesday. Packers won yesterday - Sharon did have a clinched fist every now and then. You'd think we'd be happier but would really like to see the sun.
Needed some different coffee for our Keurig. Went to Bed, Bath & Beyond last Monday. It was at the Quarry. We were at this shopping area earlier - had an organic food store there. Pretty easy to get to. Used the GPS so didn't get lost. Didn't get done with planning February's menus and doing the grocery list until after noon. Stopped off for lunch on the way to buy coffee. Decided we'd try Church's chicken. Sharon really likes it. It's o.k. At least I can get just chicken wings. I was hoping she'd try the okra as a side but she chose cole slaw instead. Just wanted to see her eat it. Think, maybe next time. :)
Back to the coffee - bought a couple of kinds of coffee but also got Dark Chocolate (hot chocolate) and chai latte. We did order some k-cups online. Should arrive at the beginning of this next week. The sample pack that came with the pot had an organic coffee - Sharon tried it. We won't be buying any. :(
This week planning a couple of outings - we'll see if we can get them in. Need to do some housekeeping chores if the rain lets up. Hate doing some things in the rain.
Seems like it's been a quiet week for us. But that's a good thing.
Well, need to determine some recipes for next weekend and plan our menus - grocery shopping list. What dessert do you think goes well with pork chops, pot au gratin, and green beans?
Well, better get busy. We're having beef n noodles for "lupper" today.

Brrrr - it's going to get cold
This next week may see the overnight low drop down to 30. Oh my! We may have 2 days where the highs will be in the upper 40's. Can't believe that a couple of years ago I would have thought of this as the January thaw. Now, it's just plain cold and may need to run our furnace. My how times change.
Watching the playoffs this weekend. So far neither team that I thought would win, won so good thing I didn't enter the pool. Two more games this afternoon - Chiefs & Packers. What are my odds.
It's been a pretty good week. Both Sharon and I received haircuts this week. Mine is a little shorter than I wanted but Sharon is real happy with hers. This time the lady got her color correct. Much happier than last year.
A friend here in the park celebrated her 67th birthday on Wednesday. She did the cooking. Made beef & chicken fajitas, rice, and beans. Had a nice time. Here's a picture of Yoli - we couldn't get her to look up. She's slicing the chicken and beef in this picture.

Had a great weekend here for people attending the meals this weekend. Made lasagna for Friday night and ran out. Saturday morning had french toast bakes and no leftovers. Some of the people were traveling through from various parts of the country. One couple had just come up from the valley, Westlaco, I think. They left there since they heard gun fire every night. We're very pleased to remain here for the winter. Not sure if we'll ever travel down to the valley until the "uproar" is done.
Last Monday we ran some errands including trying another grocery store. The grocery stores are just pitiful down here. Can't believe what they don't carry. Anyway, I decided to go a different way home just to check out the area. Wanted to know what other stores were in the area. Then we drove back towards the interstate. Little did we know it wasn't the same interstate. We ended up going west toward Del Rio. Saw an exit for a street we knew. Got off. We were definitely very west of the campground - at least 15 - 20 miles. By this time it was about 3:00 pm and we were hungry. Saw an Olive Garden sign and decided this sounded very good. On a Monday afternoon at 3:00 pm we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. The place was extremely busy. We definitely talked to the people in this campground that told us Texans do not like italian food. Not So!!
Yes, we thought about using the gps but I had downloaded some new maps and wiped out all of our settings. Forgot to program them back. We were messing around or should I say Sharon when we saw the exit. By the way, we had a great time at the Olive Garden.
Set up our new coffee pot yesterday. It's a Keurig. Makes one cup at a time. It's great. The set up came with some sample coffees as well as apple cider and hot chocolate. So far, we've tried out 6 different kinds. Now, it doesn't matter who gets up first to make coffee we can have the kind we want.
When we open our back blinds, this is our view. Thought I'd remind you one more time.

New Year's Day
Last night was a very quiet night. Some people got together at Creekside for games and ushering in the new year. After supper was done, I just came home. Was very tired and allergies still causing a little problem. But felt much better yesterday. Sharon didn't come down for supper but spent the afternoon and evening watching various sport channels.
Fell asleep watching tv. Guess we were kind of boring this year. Woke up around midnight and watched the fireworks. They were all around us. Very very pretty. Didn't grab a camera. Didn't want to go to that much work. ha ha.
It's a new year. Trying to decide if going to make any new year resolutions. If we don't make any, then none to break, right? Have our 2011 calendars up. Only need to put up 3. It's always hard choosing calendars since we only use 3 now.
Not too many people up and around for breakfast this morning. Guess biscuits and gravy wasn't tempting enough. But the rest of the day is mine. Have some beef simmering for beef n noodles, later.
This coming Wednesday, Yoli is celebrating her birthday. Can't remember if it's 67 or 68 but she's doing the cooking. She's going to make us some authentic chicken & beef fajitas. Not sure what she means by authentic but I know she makes her own tortillas. She asked to borrow our grill since she only has a small one. Should be a lot of fun. I think she's invited about 14 people.
Learned a couple new games recently. Jokers & pegs - this one uses a special board and a 5 decks of cards. Reminds me a little like Sorry or Aggravation. The other game is 5 crowns. This uses a special deck of cards. It reminds me of a game that Sharon's mom and dad taught us awhile back. You start with 3 cards and 3's are wild, the next round 4 cards and 4's are wild. You make sets and runs.
Monday afternoons is craft time. I'm hoping to start scanning pictures and slides again. Seems like I'm a little behind. Haven't taken any pictures recently. The other night, we missed taking some of a great sunset. There's been a lot of humidity lately.
Hope your having a great start to your new year.
