Friday Afternoon Drive

Sitting here with the NCAAW on TV enjoying the warm weather. The wind has finally died down, at least for awhile. It's suppose to get up to 84 today. A big difference from last Saturday. This past week we ran errands on Wednesday and Thursday. Linda came along on Wednesday. Linda's husband, Herb, works at the power plant near here. They only have one vehicle. Lately, he's been going in around 5:00 am and getting home shortly after 6:00 pm. Long day for Linda stuck in the RV without transport. At times, we ask if she'd like to go along. Wednesday was an errand day: post office, Walgreens, and meat market. She had a package to mail and also wanted to go to the meat market. So off we went. Had a great time. Didn't take any pictures, though. Ate at Jack's cafe again in Floresville. Linda's such a hoot. We have a great time.

Thursday was grocery day.

Friday afternoon we wanted to go and take some photos of wildflowers in the area. It was such a beautiful day yesterday. Sun was shining and a nice breeze. We drove over by the post office again - beautiful wildflower field right next to the PO. Here's a couple of pictures:

Then we took off towards Calaveras Lake. Of course, we had to stop along the roadside along the way. Good thing we were along some side roads most of the time. We've just started noticing this bird. It has a long tail and when it flies the tail looks like it's cutting. We think it's a scissortail ?. Haven't looked it up,yet.

Now, on to Calaveras Lake. We didn't drive along the lake but just drove down a road that we've never been on. Got a picture of the power plant where Herb works and a llama and her baby. Interesting road. Great pics.

Then we drove around. Needed a pit stop. So found a DQ. When we figured out where we were, we decided to drive back into SA and go along the river road and visit a couple of the missions. Didn't stay long but Linda had never seen them.

Along the river road. We had to drive around since they had the road closed across the river. There was an ice cream/candy truck in the area. Didn't stop since we had a DQ a little earlier. The sad part about this drive was seeing all of the stray dogs.

A couple of pictures at the missions.

My camera did a nice job. Some of the pics would have been better with Sharon's. But she wants to wait until we get back north before buying another one.
